Dr. Vaidya has worked as an Interventional Fellow for three years at the prestigious 'The Royal Melbourne Hospital' and 'The Alfred Hospital' in Melbourne. He is very well trained in the area of Interventional Cardiology, which includes complex coronary interventions, rotational atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography. He performs coronary procedures proficiently by radial as well as femoral artery approach and is experienced in acute and elective coronary interventions. Dr Vaidya is one of the very few Interventional Cardiologists in Australia and the only one in Mackay, who does the interventional procedures via distal radial artery approach, which minimises the risk of bleeding and vascular complications and reduces the recovery time after the procedures.
Prior to his arrival in Australia in 2011, he worked as a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist overseas for 8 years. In addition to interventions, Dr. Vaidya's main interest is in the diagnosis and management of coronary heart disease, hypertension and heart failure. He also provides services in the area of adult general cardiology including a range of cardiology investigations such as Electrocardiogram, Exercise Stress Test, Transthoracic Echocardiogram, Exercise Stress Echocardiogram, Holter monitoring, Seven day event monitoring and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring.
Dr Vaidya holds an attachment at Mater Misericordiae Private Hospital, Mackay. He also holds a Public hospital attachment with the Mackay Base Hospital as a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist.
